Rider notes: This is one of the most scenic rides I did so far this year. I started this ride in Pleasanton, and then took the Foothill Road towards Sunol. At Sunol, I joined Niles Canyon Road. This is a narrow road with not much shoulder. After several miles, I turned right on to Palomares Road. The road started to climb immediately. For the first two miles or so, the road is very steep. The climb continues until mile 17, and then descends sharply.
