Frequently Asked Questions

Is my GPS supported?

Cyclogz™ currently supports Garmin Edge and Garmin Forerunner series of GPS computers. In addition, you can upload .tcx files to Cyclogz™.

Does Cyclogz™ support Unix and Linux Operation Systems?

Yes, but only for uploading .tcx files. Garmin™ Communicator Plugin supports only Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. You can, however, use Cyclogz™ History Uploader to upload .tcx files on platforms that support the Adobe AIR.

How does Cyclogz™ compute cumulative ascent and descent values?

At present, these values are computed by generating a moving average of a fixed set of sample track points.

However, there is a known issue in generating these numbers for Garmin™ units that do not incldue a barometric altimeter. An effort is underway to improve the algorithms to correct these numbers for such units. When ready, the fix will be applied to all rides, at which point your cumulative ascent and descent numbers may change.

Does Cyclogz™ take stops during rides into account?

Not directly. At present, Cyclogz™ assumes that the auto-pause feature is enabled on your GPS. Please enable this feature.

Cyclogz™ does not show charts for my rides. Why?

At this point, if your GPS unit does not record the distance at each sample, Cyclogz™ will not draw charts for those rides. Some older Garmin™ units do not record distance at each sample.

When I view my ride, the loading animation window stays there forever. What is wrong?

There must be a bug in Cyclogz™ Please email admin@cyclogz.com the ride page, the version of your browser and the operating system of your computer.
