I started this ride from Startup (WA) and rode along Highway 2 all the way up to the Steven's Pass, and rode back.
The most interesting of this ride is that more than half the climb happens in just under 8 miles from the pass. Consequently, the descent does not feel like a descent after the first 8 miles, making it more tiresome towards the end.
Weather was nice, although it got colder as I got closer to the pass. There was a slight drizzle during the return, but overall, it was okay.
The tricky part is that there is no shoulder in some parts. Bridges and tunnels don't have shoulders either, and I had to be careful.
As far as supplies are concerned, Skykomish (16 miles from the pass) is the last place to get food, water etc.
