This is the final day of the tour. It was very scenic, and through the parts of the Colorado that I like/miss most.
The first 10+ miles was a good descent from Leadville. I skipped breakfast and got on the bike by 6am. Sun was just coming up on the mountain tops, but the valley below was very very cold.
The first aid station was just open by the time I reached it, which helped me fill up for the next part of the ride to the Independence Pass. The scenery through Twin Lakes to the pass was excellent.
I final 3-4 miles to the pass were steep. I reached the pass at about 10:10am, and spent 15-20 minutes. The views were fantastic.
The descent to Aspen is steep and quick. The rest of the day was mere leg work. It got warmer as I approached Glenwood Springs.
